Flamingo :: released November 21 2014
Indie Shuffle says: Drip Away is the first taste of Flamingo's upcoming sophmore EP, and solidifies their status as an act to watch. Typically well-produced, it's a smooth, upbeat track perfectly suited to the coming Australian summer.
Australian three-piece Flamingo have only been making their lush brand of alternate electronica for just over a year - but you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise. Taking influences from various styles to make music that doesn't satisfy any one genre, Flamingo have spent the last 12 months refining their sound and building a
powerful live show supporting the likes of Bonobo, Yacht, Giraffage, Classixx, Rüfüs, Kilter, Movement and most recently The Kite String Tangle for his national tour in September 2014.
In April 2014 Triple J selected the trio to represent JJJ Unearthed on the main stage of Groovin The Moo Oakbank. Following this, Red Bull Music Academy invited Flamingo to perform at Splendour In The Grass amongst an incredibly talented lineup including Nicolas Jaar and Hiatus Kaiyote. On top of their debut festival performances 2014 has also seen Flamingo embark on a ten date sold out tour around Australia with good friend and fan The Kite String Tangle.
The last half of 2014 year, Flamingo have been putting pen to paper working their emotive electronic hearts into their Drip Away EP. Featuring the additional vocals of Unearthed talent Hunt (Madeleine Hunt), Drip Away is aural bliss - full of warm synth work, amazing vocal textures, deep lyrics and Flamingo's trademark guitar riffs.
