Do these overseas 'marquee' mixers really have to flood their CDs with all of their own tracks? I like Afrojack but if I wanted to listen to his discography, I would look for it. 12/20 songs on his disc are by him or remixed by him.

True however, all his songs are great; of course he has to put a few tracks on there. Imo Afrojack did a fantastic job, out of the two i choose the 1st Disc. :)

I would prefer to see a wide range of the latest Underground hits, a showcase of what it has to offer, rather than a self-promotion.

Not to mention plenty of them have appeared on the Clubbers guide to sprin and Annual already.

Yeah, Afrojack definitely went overboard with his self-showcase. I mean, either he has no tunes in his collection, and had to fill up the rest with his stuff, or he's just that conceited.

I know that this page is for the Australian release of The Underground 2010, but I just thought it would be worth to comment on the UK release of The Underground 2010 as well, and I'm starting to think that MoS are slipping back into bad habits with The Underground series. When they first released the Underground series (Underground 2008), the set definitely showcased a collection of some real tunes; Herbert, Popof, Larry Heard, Justin Martin and Gregor Tresher to name a few. I still listen to the first release today, and even with the Underground Miami and Ibiza, the selection definitely remained true to the idea. Then arrived The Underground 2009, which started to worry me a bit; I started to notice some house (and by house, I mean funky/soul/strings with a touch electro house; the stuff that you usually find on the Defected imprints nowadays) tracks appearing on the tracklist. I was rather sceptical, because I was afraid that the Underground 2009 was now going to be a showcase of house music, rather than retaining the purpose of showcasing solely techno/tech-house/new-beats/IDM/electroclash tracks. I was still satisfied with the compilation overall (disc 3 is a force to be reckoned with!) and still enjoy it today. But here's where alarm bells start ringing: The Underground 2010; I was shocked to see tracks from Duck Sauce, The Young Punx, Goshi Goshi, TV Rock and even Sidney Samson on this CD! I don't consider any of these artists worthy of the Underground series; they are either too housy or too commercial to fit in with the underground ideal. And please don't see this in a tone of disgust, but rather as a reminder to MoS that the Underground series is starting to lose its musical integrity, and I'm concerned that it will soon lose it's original identity and direction as a high quality reflection of current underground/independent electronic music today.
