This the second instalment of the brilliant Australian made Clubbers Guide To Breaks series is once again skillfully mixed by local Masta of tha Broken Beat, DJ Kid Kenobi, 2001 Dance Music Awards’ DJ Of The Year, an accolade he has again been nominated for this year. Following the same format as the first volume (with a party disk and a chill disk) this is a superb selection of all the breaks that mattered in the last 12 months, touching on many of the different genres of this diverse sound. Skillfully woven together by the Kid and layered with the rhymes of Brisbane-based Master of Ceremonies, Shureshock. Disk one is playful and accessible, without being to mainstream or clichéd. It delivers an upfront, rocker of a beat feast that's guaranteed to get you down and sweaty. Often jazzy, often moody, with a subtle Eastern influence, the second disk is a delicious package of slowed down dope beats and murky chilled breaks. Lovely down tempo stuff, sophisticated mind music for pulling yourself back together and reflecting on the crazy blurry beat fuelled night that was.
