Hot Chip

Hot Chip are a British Electropop band.The main duo of the group Hot Chip are Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor (who go by Ulysses and Sophocles, respectively, in liner notes and elsewhere), write the music and sing the songs. Joe is the master of beats, and Alexis works the keys. They are joined by Owen Clarke (Keyboards/Guitar), Felix Martin (Drums/MPC), and Al Doyle (Guitar/also plays Guitar/Percussion for LCD Soundsytem).

In 2003, Hot Chip released their debut LP Coming On Strong. The album was considerably sparse and laid-back, maintaining a stronger R&B and Soul influence than their much more popular follow-up album The Warning. The Warning released in 2006 featured a number of successful singles and was awarded the coveted title of ‘Album of The Year’ in iconic music magazine Mixmag. Singles off the album include ‘Over And Over’ (which features on Ministry of Sound Mashed 3), ‘And I Was A Boy From School’, ‘Colours’ (which features on Ministry of Sound Chillout Sessions 9) and ‘No Fit State’.

In 2008 Hot Chip released their third studio album Made In The Dark. The album featured the singles ‘Shake A Fist’, ‘Ready For The Floor’ (which features on Ministry of Sound Mashed 4) and ‘One Pure Thought’. Along with an extremely hectic touring schedule, the band amazingly seems to find time to do plenty of remix work as well. They have remixed The Go! Team, Scissor Sisters, Le Tigre, Ladytron, M.I.A, Gorillaz, Amy Winehouse, Queens of The Stone Age, Kraftwerk and CSS to name a few
