About

A new institution in a world of new schools, Grafton Primary stand behind their motto of “educate, innovate, liberate” – providing quality musical education where none exists, and strengthening ties between students and teachers, music lovers and music makers.

Classes? All for one.

Assessment? Read the sine.

Attendance? Dance at ten.

With sound histories in the musical realm, brothers Joshua (voice) and Ben (synths/keytar) manifest digital and analogue ideas; one part divine inspiration, one part machine translation. Together they create grand poetic electronica, with its own future echo. On stage drummer Robbie makes his own waves, and the trio is complete.

If only Bach had owned a synthesiser.

If only TS Eliot had been a practical cat.

If only the Golden Age shone a little brighter, so that everyone could see.

Grafton Primary began live performances in April of 2006, playing Spectrum in Sydney. Since that time, they have played numerous venues, both large and small; including Revolver in Melbourne, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the Oxford Art Factory, and Mardi Gras party in the Forum.

Now, having had a taste of the festival circuit, playing Big Day Out, Good Vibrations, Playground Weekender, Field Day and the Essential Festival, the band are well and truly ready to embrace the moment, and all that it intends.

In addition, Grafton Primary have remixed Faker, Via Tanya and more recently, the Dukes Of Windsor. The remix of ‘This Heart Attack’ received extensive radio and club play and led to an invitation to tour with Faker.

Grafton Primary’s debut EP, ‘Relativity’ was released in September 2007; the title track turning a lot of heads with its marriage of love and science, pop and ‘ye olde wave’. It secured months of solid airplay on Triple J and led to their selection for the station’s “Next Crop” promotion.

The ‘Relativity’ clip completes the picture, and the space-time portal is now well and truly open.

Grafton Primary are currently working on their debut album, set for release in early September 2008. A new single is scheduled for release in July.
