Australia's #1 DJ, Will Sparks, in conjunction with Lucky Ent and Ministry of Sound Australia, has revealed his latest plans for world domination with the long-awaited announcement of his very own record label, Bourne Recordings. Revealed during our interview with Will, the label aims to help push unknown talent into out into the spotlight.
With so much incredible music coming from all corners of the globe, Will Sparks set out on a mission to create a central hub for bounce with the help of Ministry of Sound - an obvious choice having been the label that took bounce from his hometown of Melbourne to the top of the charts - and Lucky Ent, his agency and management company responsible for the blossoming careers of Sparks himself and a number of Australia's most successful DJs including Joel Fletcher and Tigerlily.
On the launch of the label, Jeff Drake, Head of A&R for Ministry of Sound Australia says, "As one of the very first artists to deliver the classic Melbourne bounce sound beyond its origin city, Will is largely responsible for inspiring a generation of producers, so collaborating with him and Lucky Ent to curate and deliver those sounds to the world is hugely exciting. To have created another way these artists can have their music heard around the world will help broaden the sound's reach and appeal, while also helping louden the voice of exciting artists who deserve to be heard."
In his travels, Sparks has seen the bounce movement grow and evolve to become a globally recognized sound, gaining an cult-like following, with many of the biggest DJs in the world catching on to the bounce trend.
If holding the title of Australia's #1 DJ (2014 inthemix Awards), two platinum-selling records and performance credits that include Tomorrowland and EDC weren't enough, the self-styled perfectionist and studio-obsessive 22 year old has also proven himself to be a talented A&R man, bringing a handful of exciting and talented artists to Bourne.
"When I first started producing, I always wondered how on earth I could get my music signed and released or who to contact," stated Sparks. "I created this project for anyone with talent. If you're seriously confident and know that your track is great, I'd love to hear from you."
The debut release for Bourne comes from Will Sparks himself, titled Flutatious.
"It felt right to set the vibe of the label with a hotly anticipated single from the man himself," says Drake. "Let's give aspiring Bourne artists something to aim for."
The imprint name, derived from 'MelBOURNE', is set with a mission to be at the forefront of this new generation of dance music, serving credit to the most deserving electronic musicians from around the world.
