Gold Coast producer Paces kicked off 2015 in typical swag-lord style, waltzing into triple j's Hottest 100 at number 100 with his Tkay Maidza collab, , 'Switch Lanes'. This was quickly followed up by his hit single 'Nothing's Forever' which featured vocals from Perth artist Kucka. 'Nothing's Forever' peaked at #27 on the iTunes Dance chart after being added to full rotation on triple j in February. Off the back of this success, Mikey played his first ticketed shows with a sold out tour across the country.
Now Paces is ready to go back to the future with his latest single '1993 (No Chill)'. '1993 (No Chill)' features the vocals of UK-born, Adelaide-rasied Jess Kent, whose debut release 'Get Down' shot up the triple j Unearthed charts.
"I first heard Jess Kent via her track 'Get Down' on triple j Unearthed," explains Paces. "I could tell right away that it was the feel good hit of the summer and that Jess and I were on a very similar musical vibe. I'd been writing some summery instrumentals, inspired by early M.I.A. tunes, which I thought would be a good fit for Jess' sound. So I sent them over, not realising that Jess was currently being hit up by just about every musician on the internet. Luckily the timing was right and everything else just fell into place!"
To celebrate the release of his '1993 (No Chill)' and his upcoming debut album 'Vacation', Captain Paces will soon be hitting the high seas with a series of Ship to Shore album launch parties in capital cities around Australia. Tickets to these album launch parties will be extremely limited and can be purchased from Moshtix from this Friday. Fans can also pre-order Vacation from this Friday, instantly receiving a copy of '1993 (No Chill)' plus adding on a ticket to the Ship To Shore party in their capital city.
1993 (No Chill) [feat. Jess Kent] is out now on iTunes.
