Trap music has definitely made its mark on clubs around the world, with no signs of letting up any time soon. Here in Australia, two of Australia's most established and dedicated trap producers Hydraulix and Oski are leading the charge of bass music talent that is 'turning up' all around the globe. We caught up with the 'Turn Up Vol. 1 – Trap' mixers to check out their Top 10 Club Tracks – listen here and catch them playing the biggest and best in a club near you on the Turn Up Tour!
Snails is an absolute madman, the dude's signature sound is rinsed out all over the world. Soon as you hear that crazy formant vomit sound you know its fixing to be a crazy night.
Lately he's been on the blowup, and with good reason. Street feels like a scary cough syrup dream and hits harder than life. Those crazy pan hits and interchanging melodies harken back to the ol' dub days when we were throwing ideas around like madmen and trying to find that beautiful 16 bar resolve.
We had to add this in, because Boombox Cartel are lords. We're now in this period in bass music where almost every man and his dog is juggling too many ideas that don't work alongside or compliment each other. B2U gave us a refreshing throwback to the simple time when Trap music wasn't all double time claps and angry sounds.
Quix is not only a favourite, but he's also a close mate of ours. We've watched this kid, over such a short time, become a force to be reckoned with, and this track speaks volumes as to why.
Ian Munro's music is so hype. This youngster from Auckland had already the support of Diplo and RL Grime (to name a few) before his 19th birthday. Insane right? Check out the track, it's nuts.
The thing about Command Q is… we still can't pick whether they're genius or just downright insane. Maybe it's a bit of both? Okay in all seriousness though, they're absolutely brilliant minds. We've both had the pleasure of working with these talented bastards and were absolutely gobsmacked by the sheer talent these guys exude.
Oski here… I'm throwing this one in because Hydraulix and PhaseOne went IN on this remix.
Boaz is that kinda dude that's been way ahead of the curve for years and only now is getting recognition. Check out this wacky record, it makes no sense but also makes so much sense.
Stand Tall Fists Up are relatively unknown, but hopefully that changes. These guys need way more recognition.
