Never let it be said that DJs must retire at 30, since Pete Tong is far from hanging up his slip mats. About to embark on a two-week US tour, the accomplished DJ/producer/radio host will be staging something he calls the Tong Factor. He's basically calling for track submissions from North American bedroom producers, the best of which he'll make into a digital release available from Beatport.
Tong will collect tracks from people at his gigs via USB or CD, and will be judging tracks on more than their content. Says the superstar DJ in an interview with Beatport, “Even the presentation can count - you can tell a lot about an artist and DJ from the way they go about making and handing out their music." Other things he'll be looking for: "Originality, musicality and a certain x factor ingredient, with some defining aspect that’s unique.”
The tracks will be available From Beatport later in the year, but in the meantime, you can buy lots of MoS and Hussle stuff like Tommy Trash or Aston Shuffle, without even getting up out of your chair.
