The Potbelleez Sign with Ministry of Sound

The Potbelleez are back for 2013 with a brand new single Saved In A Bottle from their forthcoming EP due for release in April.

Setting the tone for what is bound to be a cracking year, the single has been added out the gates ATB across the Nova National Network, with Southern Cross/Austereo already moving the single into Arvos/Weekends.

From Tim McGee “After years working alongside The Potbelleez, we are thrilled to be stepping up our relationship with the band and welcome them to the Ministry of Sound family. The guys have been working like crazy, and have really honed their writing and production – the new material is some of the most exciting I’ve heard in the past 12 months and it’s tremendous to hear music of this calibre coming from a local artist… we look forward to further cementing The Potbelleez music both domestically and at an international level.”

Having previously logged studio time with Australian production luminaries Sam La More (on 2008’s debut long-player The Potbelleez) and Paul Mac (Destination Now, 2011), The Potbelleez took their quest for a deeper sonic adventure across the seas to Europe in 2012.

Rather than work towards an album release with a single producer, they’ve instead locked in two EP releases for 2013 that will show off the fruits of those travels. Confirmed studio collaborators include Swedish teams The Kennel and Trinity, Norway’s Dsign Music, and London collective Agent X, whose string of production and remix credits includes crossover stars like Dizzee Rascal and Wiley.

So what to expect of the leaner 2013 incarnation of The Potbelleez? “A bigger international sound,” Goode reveals, adding, “we have a signature sound that we want to maintain, but we’re moving forward and moving on.” Still, Kidron is quick to point out that “it’s still big, melodic dance anthems, but at the same time I think the energy and the power of it is I guess more attuned with a bigger adventure –musically, and definitely lyrically.”
