When Sydney electronic producer Kilter played to a packed crowd at Splendour In The Grass in July, fans were treated to a very special surprise performance by Tkay Maidza, who joined Kilter on stage to premiere a reworked version of ‘They Say’. Since then, Kilter and Tkay have laid down the track in the studio to give ‘They Say’ a whole new dimension. Kilter has been on the road touring all around Australia and New Zealand since Splendour for his national 24-date ‘Shades’ EP tour. Released in July, ‘Shades’ shot straight to #13 on the iTunes album chart and #2 on the Electronic chart.
The original of ‘They Say’ has been on high rotation on Triple J and is about to hit 300,000 plays across Soundcloud and Spotify. Kilter’s remix of Ben Pearce’s ‘What I Might Do’ has already clocked a huge 6 million spins, which along with his Duke Dumont and London Grammar remixes have well and truly put him on the international radar.
Since her Unearthing through Triple J, Adelaide rapper Tkay Maidza has had a snowballing run on air with ‘Brontosaurus’, ‘Handle My Ego’ and ‘Arm Up’. Recently signing to Dew Process, Tkay most recent single ‘U- Huh’ has media starting conversations about being Australia’s Next Big Thing. In testament to the rhetoric, Tkay’s performance on ‘They Say’ completely elevates the already euphoric energy of the original.
Having already sold out shows around the country, Kilter will be playing the Listen Out festival nationally.
