IN FOCUS: Glover

There are DJs who define themselves by the past and those who are about the now and the next. Glover is one of the latter. The Sydney-sider is bringing an upfront sound to the international scene, regularly dropping the upper crust of music's best big room, electro house, progressive and techno.

Having held down the main room of Sydney's Pacha since its launch, Glover's meteoric rise as a producer has juiced up his long list of achievements. His Top 10 ARIA club chart remixes include the #1 ARIA club chart remix of Generik'sThe Weekend, Tigerlily'sFaith and Jimi Frew'sTrouble as well as remixes for Laidback LukeWhere Forever and Dutch über-label Spinnin' Records who placed his transformation of LA producer Borgeous' Invincible fourth in their world-wide remix competition.

Glover's debut single Faces has received massive support both internationally from DJs such as Tiësto, David Guetta & R3hab and locally, where it peaked at #1 on the ARIA Club Chart. No big deal! To back that up, Glover has recently released Hold On, which has been holding up nicely in the ARIA Club Charts at #2, second to Calvin Harris.

Having been championed by the likes of Tommy Trash, W&W, Bingo Players & Firebeatz, this party icon plans to hit the international scene very soon. We spoke to Glover about his latest task of mixing the Clubbers Guide to Spring 2015 compilation.

Hey Glover! What was the first Ministry of Sound CD you ever bought?
I think it would have been one of the early Annuals. I can't remember which one exactly, but It was mixed by Mark Dynamix & Andy Van and had so many awesome tunes on there like Daft Punk's One More Time, Iio's Rapture and the mighty Sandstorm by Darude.

Woah that makes us feel old. What about the best nightclub you've ever been to.
Oh that's a tough one! Amnesia in Ibiza, Fabric in London, XS in Vegas and Ivy in Sydney are all awesome for very different reasons - production, atmosphere, crowds etc.

What's your favourite song to drop that will guaranteed fill the floor?
My remix of Calvin Harris' Blame has been going great at all the shows! [Note: Removed from Soundcloud]

What's the best gig you've ever played and why?
Stereosonic 2014. It was my first main stage set at a festival and I got to play to a crowd of around 5000. I still get goosebumps when I see footage from it now!

What do you need with you when you go on tour?
Chargers! For the phone, for the laptop and for the Go Pro. Also my ear plugs, besides protecting your hearing, they are great for blocking out any crying babies while flying.

What's on your drinks rider?
Grey Goose vodka, Patron XO Café, Red Bull and Water.

Sounds like a well stocked bar fridge! Finally, what are your plans for the rest of 2015?
I've just released Hold On, and it's currently sitting at #2 on the ARIA Club Charts. It's the follow up to my first single Faces which went really well. Internationally, guys like David Guetta, Tiesto, R3hab & Laidback Luke have all been playing it, while here in Australia that went #1 on the Aria Club Chart. I'm also about to go on tour with Jesabel for Clubbers Guide To Spring, which should be going off!

Clubbers Guide To Spring 2015 is out on 4th September. Stay tuned for the Clubbers Guide To Spring Tour dates.
