UK Producer, Sigala, seems to be showing no signs of slowing down. Saying it's been an eventful few months for newcomer Sigala would be an understatement. The British native boasts an impressive musical background, starting out as an avid piano player from the age of 8, achieving grade 8 only a few years later. He progressed into Jazz music as a teenager before studying at Westminster University, here he was able to fine-tune his technical abilities and style. As he got marginally older, he discovered a love for dance music listening to the likes of Pendulum, Sub Focus, Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy. It was these artists combined with 90s music (particularly R'n'B and Garage) that would go on to influence his own music and sound.
His hit singles 'Easy Love', 'Sweet Lovin' feat. Bryn Christopher, 'Say You Do' feat. Imani and DJ Fresh , and most recently, 'Give Me Your Love' feat. John Newman and Nile Rodgers, have gained massive support across radio and streaming platforms.
'Easy Love' was the feel-good anthem of the summer, debuting at No. 1 in the UK and is certified Gold in both the UK and Australia. Sigala's music can only be summed up as uplifting and soulful while tapping into that 90s nostalgia that is so definitive of the young producer's generation. Piano based instrumentals and jazz chords are still evident throughout, showing that his technical background lends itself generously to his present sound.
His next single 'Sweet Lovin', released at the tail end of 2015, garnered support from the likes of Don Diablo, Timmy Trumpet and Mike Mago, immediately radiating across dancefloors worldwide with its joyful tropical house-flavours. The track stayed in the UK Top 20 for 12 weeks and has now gone Gold in the UK and Australia too.
Following 'Sweet Lovin' comes one of his newer singles 'Say You Do.' The track features 16-year-old rising star Imani and Rita Ora and Diplo collaborator DJ Fresh and debuted at No. 5 in the UK, making it Sigala's third UK top five single.
Sigala has now chalked up three UK top five singles in just seven months (No.1, No.3, No.5), and over 2 million sales worldwide. Ahead of his debut Australian tour, Sigala now drops his biggest track yet, 'Give Me Your Love', featuring John Newman and Nile Rodgers. 'Give Me Your Love' will be released in Australia on April 22nd via Astrx/UMA.
With the new single released, Sigala announced his 2016 Australian Tour beginning late April. Sigala will play six dates across five different cities. Be sure to catch him on the road!
