And The Winners Are...

Sydney based band The Cracks have been awarded a freeride to fame with their brilliant track 'On my way'. The top 20 winners have all been selected in what became a huge year for the competition.

'On my way' will become the soundtrack for the 2011 Perisher Freeride TV commercial on air from June 2011. The Cracks will perform live at Perisher’s Spring Carnival in September and have won a swag of prizes including a Perisher Snow Holiday, PlayStation®3 Move Pack and a Nikon Digital Camera.

After forming in 2008, a couple of High School mates found a couple of other rouge musicians and 'The Cracks' started to appear and at the end of 2010 they were lucky enough to record with Australian master producer Wayne Connolly. The Cracks are constantly working on new material and so far for 2011 has headlined the Beach Rd Bondi to a packed out Australia day crowd and supported INXS at Day On The Green.

The Cracks are an indie rock band that upon receiving the 'You're the Winner' phone call, "I was ecstatic! How can you top a call like that? We are very much looking forward to hearing our song on TV. All around, the entries were awesome and we're simply ecstatic!"

Launch Your Band organiser and Out of the Square Media's Director Martin Adnum said that this year (the 5th year of the competition) has been an exceptional year; "The quality of the entries this year was phenomenal, we really are proud to be part of genuine opportunity that really gives emerging bands great exposure like this – without the support of Perisher it really wouldn’t be possible."

The entries were judged according to originality, composition and relevance to Perisher's freeride style. This is an annual competition and gives energy to the Perisher community in the lead up to the snow season.
