5 things about Bass Kleph

Stuart Tyson a.ka Bass Kleph is fast becoming one of the biggest names in the Australian and international dance scene right now. As a DJ, Producer, Label Owner, Mix Engineer and occasional Radio Show Presenter (JJJ Mix Up) it is easy to see why!

We managed to have a sit-down with this Aussie-based artist when he wasn't traveling the world or pining away in his studio and asked him our now-infamous 5 questions. Check it out:

  • What are you listening to these days?
Lots of tech house and techno! I'm loving artists such as Olivier Giacomotto, Tim Green, John Aquaviva, Matteo DiMar, Popof, Funkagenda, D-Formation Wippenburg etc.
  • Which are your favourite venues on earth to party at?
Tunning Hall in Moscow, Mint Club in Leeds, Fabric in London, Baby Face in Shanghai, HQ in Adelaide, Ambar/Villa in Perth
  • When did you get started in this whole DJ biz?  Who were your influences growing up?
around 1999/2000. I was first introduced to dance music by Sydney's own Somatik, then (as i was playing breaks at the time) was further influenced locally by Kid Kenobi and Mako, and a bunch more from abroad such as The Stanton Warriors, Tipper, Left Field and many more
  • If you could go to dinner with a few artists in the music biz, who would they be?
I'm lucky enough to hang out with amazing artists (that i never thought i would meet), quite often, but seeing as i'm so busy all the time, i'd choose Chris Arnott, Tommy Trash and fRew as they're not only amazing artists, but also a few of my best mates.
  • Tell us something people might not know about you.
I love snowboarding! Whenever i can get time away from the studio or the tours, i take off somewhere in search of some pow. Actually I just came back from another trip to Niseko in Japan last friday. Amazing snow, as always. Had the best runs of my life.'
